Did you know that there are families encountering hardships, including homelessness, right here at Deer Crossing?
Did you know that there are hundreds of children encountering homeless in Frederick County every day?
This issue cuts across age and ethnicity. With your help and support, we can work to provide these children with the things they need to help them lead normal lives. Things like clothing and shoes, food, and the ability to participate in activities like their peers.
In support of these students, DCES PTA allocates funds for student assistance to help provide essentials to those that need them. In addition to school-sponsored collection drives, PTA also sponsors a hat and mitten drive in November and December to collect items to be first given to DCES students in need and then donated to a local charity.
We also try to fill needs as they arise. Check back here or sign up for our newsletter to be notified what those needs are as they come up.
The school is also connected with several local organizations that support those who need assistance. For more information and to find out how you can do more, visit them online:
